Stanley Baxter

Stanley Baxter, 1926-2025,  was a hugely talented actor and comedian who made the transition from music hall to  television. Other Scottish artists with similar career trajectories included Rikki Fulton and Jimmy Logan, who we might feature in the future.

In the following clip we see Stanley Baxter  parodying TV shows featuring Scottish Country Dancing. It takes a really naughty sideswipe at Andy Stewart and Moira Anderson, who also had big careers at the time.

The White Heather Club was a long running TV show produced in Glasgow which celebrated Scottish  song and dance.
